Details

Come along and hear performances by the award-winning students from Hull Piano School! The young musicians performing have all won first prizes at local and international music festivals.

The programme will include Ravel's much-loved Mother Goose suite, with projected illustrations by Beverley artist Annamaria Dutto, and Chopin's brilliant Fantaisie Impromptu , as well as short works by Mozart, Grieg, Amy Beach, Granados, Bartók, Mendelssohn and Lester Hough.

Hull Piano School has a vibrant tradition of giving concerts and performances locally and further afield. The School's director, Lester Hough studied with Vincent Packford in Oxford, a pupil of Harold Craxton. He studied composition with Anthony Hedges and Alastair Borthwick, and his music is published by Universal Edition. As a composer he has a growing profile internationally and has had performances in Lviv (KLK New Music with Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra), Munich (Carl Orff Festival), Havana (International Festival of Contemporary Music) and this year in Augustenborg, Denmark. He has continued to develop his skills as a teacher, composer and performer through a varied career which has always included private piano teaching.
