Workshop 2025

Abergavenny Symphony Orchestra’s 2025 workshop will take place on Sunday 6 April at Clarence Hall, in the beautiful town of Crickhowell.

This year’s repertoire consists of two of the greatest orchestral tone poems by Richard Strauss… Don Juan and Till Eulenspiegel .

Composed in 1888, when Strauss was just 24, Don Juan is one of Strauss’s most sumptuous and passionate works telling the adventures of the legendary lover Don Juan.

Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks (to give its full title) followed six years after Don Juan and tells of an actual historical character from the 14th century who had a reputation for practical jokes and roguish adventures. The music is high spirited and brilliantly orchestrated

Conducted by Michael Bell MBE, this workshop presents a rare opportunity to explore these two Strauss masterpieces. We look forward to welcoming you.
