Wildwood Kin are an acclaimed Award Winning anglo/americana, indie alt folk trio from Exeter in Devon comprising of two sisters, Beth and Emillie Key and their cousin Meghann Loney. The first thing that strikes you about the second album by Wildwood Kin, self-titled because it captures the band’s artistic vision so completely, is just how natural it sounds. The voices of three young women harmonise effortlessly, there are shades of Simon & Garfunkel, Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac and the churchy cadences of Fleet Foxes in the beautifully gentle folk rock melodies, and lyrics address profound themes like love, loss and spirituality in an unforced fashion. But above all, there is a spirit to the record that is as wild and free as the West Country moors Emillie, her younger sister Beth, and their cousin Meghann grew up on. Unlike in most bands there is no leader or principal songwriter. The album, produced by Ian Grimble (Bear’s Den, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Viola Beach, Daughter) also features a number of co-writes from sessions in Los Angeles, Nashville and Oxfordshire, including Gabrielle Aplin, Angelo Petraglia (Taylor Swift, Lissie, Kings of Leon), and Alex Davies (Sigrid, Birdy, Kodaline). Lead single, ‘Never Alone’ was written with and produced by rock royalty, Ed Harcourt. Wildwood Kin may have an unusual gift for harmony, and a way with evergreen folk rock melodies, but ultimately they’re three normal, relatable young women finding their way in the world and dealing with the same challenges, triumphs and tragedies as the rest of us. These themes are captured on their beautifully reflective second album, released on 4 th October 2019. It is a tonic for our times. The band have amassed over 20m streams across their EPs and debut studio album. Their beautifully ambient sound lends itself to sync, with ‘Hold On’, one of the first songs they ever wrote recently featuring prominently in an episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ Summer 2019 festivals included Glastonbury, alongside 15 others. UK headline 17-date tour in November. 11 date tour supporting Boy & Bear in Feb 2020 in Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. “Fleetwood Mac-like harmonies, hints of Fleet Foxes’ desolate, spectral acoustica, echoes of Ben Howard’s richly textured but ramshackle sparseness, a love of Mumfords-like propulsion and explosiveness” – The Sunday Times“Their voices mesh lushly together. Wildwood Kin are primed for the mainstream” – The Guardian “There's a drive, a crunching sense of abandon that litters every song they place their name against. Three musicians with a taste for ambition” – Clash“A band who has arrived on the scene with a bang” - Wonderland “The real deal” – Mark Radcliffe, BBC 6 Music “Two sisters and one cousin … create the soul-soaring, ear-quenching alt folk riot of sound that is Wildwood Kin. With their astounding harmonics, riotous performances and beautiful camaraderie … they’re already in the arrival lounge of greatness” – BBC Introducing
