In 2022, after a very last-minute submission, Rio was selected as one of the seven winners of Defecteds Unsung Heroes. Following the winners showcase, where he caught the attention of founder Simon Dunmore and CEO Wez Saunders, Rio was invited to work with the A&R team at Defected Records - scouting for new talent while strengthening his relationship with the iconic label. The rising star now also hosts a weekly showcase on Defected Broadcasting House, Its A Feeling celebrating the DJs favourite house tracks and the intuitive nature of live performance: When asked by people how I DJ, Ive always had the same response Im not sure what Ive done, its just a feeling. He brings undoubtable energy to his sets, so were really excited to have him join us as a guest resident throughout Spring for our weekly Wild parties.
