Whether you’re declaiming in a forest or whispering in a recording booth, two things are always true: you need to use your voice in a healthy way, and you need to sound like you. In this 101 session, we’ll work on vocal skills you can take into any situation—theatrical or otherwise!—to feel good while you make good noise. This workshop is an introduction for anyone who wants to start learning how best to use their voice, and a refresher for anyone already feeling confident. Bring your lovely self and a bottle of water; wear clothes you don’t mind rolling around on the floor in! Bee has sung, acted, and voiced across the world, from recording booths and Renaissance Faires to amphitheatres in Athens and Cornwall. She began performing professionally as a teenager in California, where she trained with opera singers, cartoon voice artists, and actors from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the National Theatre of Greece. She earned her MA in Music Theatre at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and now teaches performance practice at the University of York, where she is working on a PhD in queer science fiction theatre.
