Where to start with the well travelled music encyclopaedia who is Richard Norris. You could start with his brilliant & well received memoir 'Strange Things Are Happening', a very good place for the uninitiated. The list of musical collaborators is quite something indeed. Before any of that Richard formed a punk band at 14yrs, cut a 7 inch & took them to Rough Trade's original London store who bought them all there & then, great start.
That just lit the fuse that's still burning. Richard goes onto work with to name a few Psychic TV, Yello, Lambchop, Robert Fripp, Joe Strummer & Black Grape. Most well known for his work with Dave Ball (Soft Cell) as The Grid. I was lucky enough to do a show with The Grid back in the day, fingers crossed we will see some full live performances from The Grid soon. Richard's Beyond The Wizards Sleeve with Erol Alkan goes on to snare a whole new generation of followers. His latest solo output's The Time & Space Machine and Music For Healing is just more brilliance from a man that just keeps going. That's the thing, just keep going & you'll get to where you want to be, Richard's stuck with it, walking his own path, beating his own drum. We need more Richard Norris's.
Couldn't be happier Richard is the first of my music family to come over the wall for these Brunswick Cellar shows. A 5hr show that will no doubt take us through not only some of his incredible productions but should show off his immense music knowledge.
