Details

Originally used as a tool for the weaver to test how yarns would interact on the loom, yarn windings open the vast possibility of closely exploring patterns, colour changes and juxtaposition of fibres through various methods. Join us as we explore its vast potential as an artistic practice and gain newfound sensory experiences through experimentation.

Looking at the intersections of colours through linear work on paper. Observing, dissecting, and inspiring ourselves from techniques used by artists such as Anni Albers, Margo Selby and Harriet Wallace-Jones. We will explore how the design process begins for many weavers before even touching threads… using paint & paper.

Please bring along one or two images that inspire you.

The workshops are led by fibre artist Stephanie Fradette, an Aberdeenshire-based artist who blends bold colours into her woven, knotted, and tufted wall hangings, showcasing rich textures, contemporary design and craftsmanship. She has recently published her first book “Playful Peg Loom Weaving” and has taught workshops across Scotland sharing the creative possibilities of fibre art.
