The Watsons

On Jane Austens 250th anniversary EPT is proud to bring The Watsons to the Church Hill Theatre. Emma Watson is newly returned to the impoverished family home, after years of living with her rich aunt. Her mother is dead, her father is dying. She and her two sisters need to marry, fast, if they are not to be left at the mercy of their hard-hearted brother and his ghastly wife. Enter Tom Musgrave and Lord Osborne, both possible (and wealthy) candidates. So far, so Jane Austen But Austen left her novel The Watsons unfinished. Laura Wade bravely takes up the story, only to find that the myriad characters abandoned by their author have ideas of their own. How on earth is she to engineer her heroines happy ending?
