Details

Trailblazing tradtronica group Huartan are back! They take to the stage in Castlewellan GAC with their incredible blend of traditional Irish song, electronic beats, and innovative choreography. Their stated goal is to take ancient and endangered Irish traditional songs and put them in the context of electronic dance music for a modern audience, and boy do they succeed. Every performance is a work of art, with all three musicians (Stiofán Ó Luachráin, Catriona Ní Ghribín, and Múlú) taking on symbolic personas – e.g. flautist & producer Ó Luachráin harking back to our pagan ancestors by donning the utterly distinctive ram’s skull. Joined onstage by captivating morph-suited duo Anna Poloni and Micheál Ó Coigligh (who really are the fourth and fifth members of the band), Huartan will take your breath away as they lure you onto the dancefloor.

Formed just last year in Belfast’s iconic Hawthorn Bar, the trio have played consistently since and, tellingly, were announced winners of the inaugural Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí Award for Best Emerging Artist at Gradaim Nós 2024.

Simply put, Huartan will have you spellbound. We cannot wait…
