Come and join Grantham Operatic Society as they present the famous comic Gilbert and Sullivan operetta ‘The Pirates of Penzance’.

Follow our young hero Frederic as he graduates from his apprenticeship with ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ and sets off to make his own way in the world – intending to live a ‘respectable’ life for evermore. However, despite falling head-over-heels in love with Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, a problem emerges. Frederic was due to be released from his apprenticeship on his 21st birthday but, as he was born on 29th February, Frederic discovers that he is technically still only a ‘little boy of 5’ . Can he find a way to live happily-ever-after with Mabel and reconcile his duty to the pirates?

This comic opera is packed full of sentimental pirates, blundering policeman, absurd adventures and improbable paradoxes and features the famous songs ‘I am the very model of a Modern Major-General’ and ‘A Policeman’s lot is not a happy one.’

The funny, fresh and lively staging of this classic production - performed in the beautiful surroundings of St Wulfram’s Church, Grantham – promises to delight both existing fans and newcomers to the show.
