The Deep Blue Sea by Terrence Rattigan in the Forge

Details

A story of lives blighted by love, or the lack of it. Hester Collyer is discovered by her neighbours after her failed attempt to take her own life. Over the course the play she reveals the turmoil of her situation, having left a safe and comfortable marriage for a passionate affair with a semi-alcoholic former RAF pilot, Freddie Page. As Freddie loses interest, an increasingly desperate Hester faces an impossible choice between a return to her husband, a High Court Judge, or a life without her lover. Or is suicide the only option? How can she choose between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea?
