THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN A dark absorbing comedy by Martin McDonagh Directed by David Quaife

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland in 1934, this is a strange comic tale in the great tradition of Irish storytelling. As word arrives on Inishmaan that the Hollywood director Robert Flaherty is coming to the neighbouring island of Inishmore to film 'Man of Aran', the one person who wants to be in the film more than anybody is a young disabled orphan named Billy, if only to break away from the bitter tedium of his daily life. "It’s a perfect example of McDonagh’s artistry — the sheer hilarity of the comic situation and the aching poignancy of the characters for refusing to see themselves in this wrenching film of their lives."
