Ireland, 1652. Englishman Robert lives a happy life with his Irish wife, Madeleine, and their newborn son. But beyond the borders of their home, troubles are brewing. Oliver Cromwell has decreed that all Catholic landowners should be banished to the barren land of Connaught. Objections are met with harsh punishment, and now Robert must decide what is more important - his love for his family or his loyalty to his people. Romance meets genocide in this powerful play set in the midst of Cromwell’s brutal campaign, the effects of which have reverberated through the centuries. Contains adult themes. This amateur production is presented by special arrangement with Nick Hern Book
