Details

To mark six years after David Bowies untimely passing, the award winning Brighton Beach Boys present a 50th Anniversary concert of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.' The 7 piece band, features Glen Richardson on vocals and piano, and Charlotte Glasson who appeared at The Cryer in the jazz event in October.

The band have appeared in Brighton, France, Liverpool at The Philharmonic for International Beatles Week and London's Bush Hall.Originally the band started recreating the magnificent harmonies of The Beach Boys, - hence the name, but have since branched out to The Beatles, and Carole King's Tapestry, Joni Mitchell's Blue' and of course David Bowie! They are not a tribute band, instead they painstakingly recreate the music- with strings, woodwind, stylophone, whatever is necessary!

Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is the album where Bowie starts to explode as an artist. He adopts the persona of Ziggy and explores the artificiality of rock and the stardom it creates. The album featuring the single Starman, the song which propelled Bowie back in the limelight, following an appearance on Top of the Pops. This is the album that really started to define the legend.

The band will also perform other Bowie hit songs, including Space Oddity,Changes, Ashes to Ashes, Life on Mars, Let's Dance, and more.
