The Bald Prima Donna

Anticipating Monty Python by nearly two decades, this absurdist gem is an hilarious satire of the hollowness and banality of societal customs and communication. Described by Ionesco as an anti-play, the play skilfully subverts the norms of traditional theatre. Two couples, the Smiths and the Martins convene in a middle-class English living room. As the play unfolds their seemingly mundane conversations spiral into the realms of the bizarre and surreal producing a comically absurd exploration of the human experience.
