Specialist Tour : The Graffiti of Norwich Cathedral

Norwich cathedral contains over five thousand individual graffiti inscriptions, dating from as far back as the twelfth century - all the way through to 2022.

They were created for various reasons, including a curse on a local family, but very often they are simply prayers made solid in stone. Medieval ships sail across the stonework, jostling aside images of wading birds and elaborate compass drawn designs.

The tour starts at 10:15am on Saturday 4th May and lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Meet inside the main visitor entrance to the cathedral, the Hostry.

Our tours primarily take place on the flat, within the cathedral and cloister, but there may be some short flights of steps as we make our way round the building. There are usually plenty of opportunities to sit down during the tour.

Tickets costs just £5.00 plus a small booking fee.
