Smashing Monuments | Sebastián Díaz Morales

'Smashing Monuments' explores the relationships we have with the urban monuments that populate our cities. Created by artist and filmmaker Sebastián Díaz Morales, the film follows five members of the Indonesian art collective ruangrupa as they walk the streets of Jakarta, engaging in one-sided conversations with the monuments around them. 'Smashing Monuments' reveals the complexity of Indonesia’s struggle towards nationhood, and how that struggle manifests within the individuals of ruangrupa.
