Details

The Cuban Boys were by some distance the biggest band on the Radio 1 John Peel show in 1999/2000 scoring two Festive 50 number 1s. They placed on the Festive 50 ten times and recorded two sessions for John. Their million selling hit single Cognoscenti Vs Intelligentsia battled Cliff Richard for the Xmas Number 1 and legendary BBC Producer Mike Engles included the band as one of the top 10 Maida Vale BBC sessions of all time, alongside Nirvana, Ivor Cutler and the Damned. The live set includes that worldwide top 5 hit single Cognoscenti Vs. Intelligentsia (Hamster Dance Song) and The Nation Needs You - their two Festive 50 number 1s. Other indie-disco favourites in the set include Oh My God! They Killed Kenny, Drink Drink Drink and Cuban Boy, their theme to BBC1 sitcom Still Game. The Golden Age Of Video was a global viral smash on YouTube in the 2010s for Cuban Boys main man Ricardo Autobahn. The set also includes Rhinestone Cowboy (Giddy Up Giddy Up) - a top 10 hit in 2002 for Ricardo Autobahn and Eurovision star Daz Sampson under the guise Rikki & Daz feat. Glen Campbell.
