Sister Act

Philidelphia, Christmas 1977. Deloris Van Cartier is an aspiring singer auditioning for her gangster boyfriend Curtis at his nightclub. Discouraged by Curtis' less than enthusiastic response to her performance and obvious lack of genuine affection she decides to leave him. On going to see Curtis however, she witnesses Ernie, one of his goons, being murdered by him as a suspected informant.

Running to the local police department for help, desk chief Eddie Souther tells her she needs to go into witness protection for her own safety - at a local convent.

At first Deloris - known to the nuns as "Sister Mary Clarence" - feels that hiding in the convent is the worst thing in the world, resisting the constraints put upon her by the steadfast Mother Superior. Once introduced to the struggling convent choir however, everything changes.

Sister Act, based on the 1992 film of the same name, is a joyful and uplifting tale of how music can bring people from different communities, backgrounds and lifestyles, together.
