An Introduction to Block Printing Tutor: Julie Gillespie

Ages: adults and students aged 16+

This course will give you the practical skills and knowledge to create and produce your own designs using the exciting medium of block printing. You will learn all the basics and be able to produce your own original design on paper and/or fabric and bring your creative ideas to life. Through a series of workshops, you will develop your design awareness and learn the art of block printing. You will explore the fundamentals of block printing, using your own sources of inspiration and by developing your own creative process so you can be empowered to start your own block printing projects at home. You will be taught step-by-step how to create designs that can be applied to a range of projects including cards, prints, wrapping paper, cushions, wallpaper, lampshades, napkins and tablecloths.

Materials Needed: Sketchbook, tracing paper, pen, pencil and colour pencils. Some other materials will be provided. Once the main project has been decided upon, you will be advised what to bring.
