Shirley Smart Trio

Shirley Smart is one of the UK’s most versatile and creative cellistsand she is equally at home with jazz, folk, Middle Eastern, World and Classical music. Originally trained under Raphael Wallfisch at the Guildhall School of Music and Janos Starker in Paris, Shirley spent 10 years in Jerusalem, where she worked with some of the region’s leading artists, including Avishai Cohen.

With her rich tapestry of influences from Arabic, Turkish and North African music, cellist and composer Shirley’s trio promises an evening of vibrant melodies, grooves, swing and lively improvisation.
