In 2024 St. Peter's Church in Belper celebrates its 200th birthday. Events throughout the year will climax with a very special concert featuring cellist Sheku Kanneh Mason and his pianist sister Isata.
Sheku shot to fame in 2016 when he won the BBC Young Musician Of The Year, aged 16. Two years later he performed at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle. In 2023 he was the guest soloist at The Last Night Of The Proms. It is one of only a handful of recitals that Sheku will play in the UK during 2024. Isata attended the Royal College Of Music on the prestigious Sir Elton John Scholarship. In 2013 Isata performed with Sir Elton in Los Angeles. Isata has recorded four albums, including the chart topping 'Muse' which was a collaboration with Sheku. These are two of the biggest names in classical music. They are leading a new generation of performers.
