Scottish Opera: The French Collection

Details

French opera contains a vast variety of musical and dramatic styles as its artists pushed boundaries on stage and in the pit. Celebrating the innovation and creativity in opera during the 19th and early 20th century in Paris, this concert includes excerpts from some of the era’s grandest and most beloved operas as well as its rarer gems, including works by Georges Bizet, Charles Gounod, and Jules Massenet.

The Orchestra of Scottish Opera captures the vivacity and grandeur of this uniquely brilliant musical period under the baton of the Company’s Music Director Stuart Stratford. With a first-rate group of singers to be announced later this year, The French Collection will be a night of romance, drama, and beautiful music to remember.

Running time approx. 2 hrs with a 20 minute interval

Sung in French with English supertitles
