Details

Scotland on Tour, the exciting initiative to support the recovery of our live music industry, returns to the Ardnamurchan Peninsula this spring with local musician Malin Makes Music.

BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2022 finalist Malin Lewis will take to the stage with acclaimed musicians Luc McNally (Dosca, Snuffbox) on bouzouki and Sally Simpson (Heisk, Westward the Light) on fiddle.

Malin, who has been credited as bringing the tradition “right up to date”, grew up on Eilean Shona in Moidart before moving to Skye where they took up piping, taught by Iain Ruaridh Finlayson and Dr Angus MacDonald.

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate has a sound that has been described as “beautiful and raw” and “a breath of fresh air” and they play a set of unique self-made two-octave smallpipes, opening up new possibilities for piping.
