SCO Summer Tour 2024: Soirée Parisienne

Details

Fauré: Masques et Bergamasques Widor: Introduction & Rondo Cécile Chaminade: Concertino for flute op.107 Saint-Saëns: Tarantella for flute, clarinet & orchestra Louise Farrenc: Symphony No 3

Paul Meyer - conductor; André Cebrián - flute; Maximiliano Martín - clarinet

The richness of the Romantic era combines with French lightness of touch for an irresistible programme.

Chaminade and Widor put the flute and clarinet in the limelight, after which both instruments come together for Saint-Saëns’ equally delightful Tarantella – bringing the dance theme begun by Fauré full circle. We finish with Farrenc’s Symphony No 3, a powerful work that demands to be rediscovered.

With special thanks to Summer Tour sponsors Eriadne & George Mackintosh and Claire & Anthony Tait.
