Exploring the links between gaming and mental health Video gaming is not just for children, with new government research revealing that more than half of British adults now game.

But studies into the effect of gaming on our mental health have revealed contradictory findings. While certain research claims gaming is linked to depression and addiction, other studies have highlighted the value of gaming in providing a treatment for some mental health conditions.

At this latest Science Speakeasy, a panel of experts will throw the spotlight on gaming and its links to mental health.

The evening will also explore online identities and whether we can bridge the gap between virtual and real worlds, opening up new frontiers for human interaction and innovation.

“There is nothing else like it in Newcastle. It is a unique night out and the different themes each time means it can be interesting to a range of different people.”
