Rekindling the flame of the iconic blues/rock band from the 60s/70s, TASTE, was no small feat. The band, which originally disbanded in the aftermath of the untimely death of legendary frontman Rory Gallagher in 1995, experienced a revival driven by an ardent fan base and the shared determination of John Wilson and Richard "Charlie" McCracken to preserve the band's distinctive sound and energy. In the absence of the irreplaceable Gallagher, Belfast guitarist Sam Davidson, previously associated with John in both "The Belfast Blues Band" and "Skboo," stepped into the pivotal roles of guitarist and vocalist. However, the journey has witnessed a recent pause in the familiar lineup. John Wilson, temporarily stepping away due to health reasons, has left a space in the ensemble. Yet, the show must go on, and TASTE continues to evolve with Lyn McMullan now bringing his drumming prowess to the blues power trio. Additionally, the bass duties have found a new hand in Ali McKenzie, injecting fresh vigor into the ensemble. The legacy of TASTE endures, driven not only by nostalgia but by a commitment to capturing the essence that made them a force in the blues/rock scene. As the lineup adjusts and evolves, the spirit of TASTE lives on, inviting audiences to witness the ongoing saga of this venerable musical journey.
