Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto

Surprise Opener

Mendelssohn – Violin Concerto

Lera Auerbach – Symphony No1 Chimera

Thomas Søndergård, Conductor

Randall Goosby, Violin

Musicians from Glasgow Instrumental Music Services

‘For me, personally, music has been a way to inspire others,’ says Randall Goosby – and that generosity of spirit is just one reason why the RSNO are delighted to have this talented American violinist as Artist in Residence. He opens this concert together with RSNO Associate Artist Kellen Gray and young musicians from Glasgow Instrumental Music Services, before showcasing Mendelssohn’s magical, endlessly tuneful Violin Concerto. RSNO Music Director Thomas Søndergård conducts, and also shares the gripping First Symphony by Lera Auerbach – a tale of love, death and impossible dreams, from a composer who believes that ‘every concert is about being transformed.’
