Take a relaxing nine-mile walk along the length of the Monsal Trail, exploring the history of the old Derby to Manchester railway line that used to follow the route through the Peak District. This guided walk begins at the northern end of the Monsal Trail, not far from the spa town of Buxton, and follows it down to its southern end at Bakewell. Along the way, it look at the history of the railway line from its construction in the 1860s to its closure in the 1960s. With no hills, and only one set of steps to climb, this walk is suitable for everyone, and is a great way to enjoy some of the most famous Peak District scenery. It is also easily accessible by public transport, making it ideal for those who are looking for a more environmentally friendly way of enjoying beautiful scenery.
