Primary Schools Takeover: Tavares Strachan

This day of free activities is organised and delivered by our lead primary school, the Takeover Team. For our Hayward Gallery Takeovers, the schools team at the Southbank Centre works closely with one primary school group, the Takeover Team, and artist educators to develop a deeper understanding of our current exhibition. This prepares the Takeover Team to lead and deliver a day of workshops and discussions for other young people in the gallery. The Takeover Team welcomes other primary schools to come and learn about the different artists’ techniques and works, explore careers in the arts and participate in art-making workshops in response to the exhibition. The exhibition showcases the inventive ways in which New York-based, Bahamian artist Tavares Strachan celebrates unsung explorers whose stories shine a light on histories hidden by bias.
