The main work to be featured in our summer concert this year is Eternal Light: A Requiem by Howard Goodall.
Turning away from the darker texts used for the traditional requiem, Goodall wanted to bring his requiem into the 21st century, blending old Latin texts together with English sacred and secular poetry and focussing more on providing comfort for those who are grieving at the loss of a loved one.
We are very fortunate to be joined by soloists: Catherine Hamilton (soprano), Philip Lancaster (baritone) and Sally Jenkins (harpist); also Simon Dunbavand (organ) and Mark Smith (piano).
We will also be singing The Lord's My Shepherd by Goodall (theme tune from Vicar of Dibley) and a selection of other songs by John Rutter, Patrick Hawes and Cecilia McDowall.
Refreshments will be available.
