Phil Dawson is a top UK guitarist whose music is rooted in many different African, Latin and Brazilian music traditions, and who learned his trade playing with legends like South African jazz trumpet giant Hugh Masekela, Nigerian Afrobeat co-creator Tony Allen, Ethio-jazz pioneer Mulatu Astatke, and London based Ghanaian afro-rock dons Osibisa. He’s also been a regular with Lokkhi Terra, Dele Sosimi and Soothsayers. Heavy company for sure.
