The Northern Stories Festival 2022 is a spectacular celebration of stories from the far North of Scotland, taking place in Caithness from the 7th-16th October.
The festival is supported by EventScotland as part of Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022, and will showcase stories from the far North. Welcoming an international line-up of performers and storytellers from the Highlands, Scandinavia and Canada, the Festival will feature an exciting hybrid programme of online and in-person events. With talks, workshops, films and exhibitions, there will be something for all the family to get involved in.
HIGHLIGHTS:
The Tale of The Whale | A 50ft whale will wash-up in Wick. Are you brave enough to enter and hear tales of shipwrecked pirates and siren songs?
Painted People | A new photography and sound exhibition coming to Thurso. Inspired by our Pictish heritage as ‘painted people’, the exhibition will document contemporary tattoo stories of Caithness.
Moraine | A moraine is material left behind by a moving glacier, the type that shaped the landscapes of Scotland, Canada and Norway. Moraine is a new collaborative storytelling commission from three emerging writers from Caithness, Bergen and Northern Ontario popping up in unexpected places.
