North Cumbria Scriptwriters

North Cumbria Scriptwriters present the six winners of the Lonely Cloud competition, Act Your Age, that was publicised via the BBC Writersroom.

The winners were chosen by Melina Barnett, a theatre maker, producer and director who is an associate artist at Theatre by the Lake helping their creative development.

These six short plays will be performed by community actors at TBTL and then on 27 April at Penrith Playhouse Theatre. They give a flavour of what scriptwriters with a link to Cumbria are up to these days.

The plays offer an engaging evening, with a variety of themes and emotions, all with a common link of “Act your Age”. Some are light-hearted: meet a cleverly enterprising restaurant waiter, for example, or an over-optimistic tribute band promoter. Others are more thought-provoking: witness a grandma gardening towards trouble or foresee a distressing example of where AI could take us.
