IDAHOBIT was created in 2004 to raise awareness of the violence and discrimination faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, including all people who have diverse gender identities or gender expressions. LGBT Humanists’s Derek Lennard was IDAHOBIT’s UK Co-ordinator for over a decade.
On 17 May 1990, the World Health Organisation finally declassified homosexuality as a mental illness. Despite this, LGBT+ people across the world continue to face hate, discrimination and violence. Join us as we celebrate the achievements from the years past, and discuss what we can all do to keep making progress in the future.
This event is organised as part of the LGBT strand of the National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project ‘Humanist Heritage: Doers, Dreamers, Placemakers’, coordinated by Humanists UK in partnership with Conway Hall.
Presented by Conway Hall and Humanists UK.
This is an all ages event. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.
