Joe Goddard is more than just the man behind Hot Chip’s electro-pop sound. He’s also London’s premier producer for hire, ace DJ and one half of the Greco-Roman club night and label, as well as US house obsessives 2 Bears. On top of that, his love of the beats and basslines of his hometown means there’s no one better placed to run through its ever-changing iterations. All of the above are elements of the biography of Joe Goddard, an artist now firmly established as part of the lineage of British producers whose raison d'être lies in the synthesis of the perfect vocal, the right beat and the energy levels felt in the centre of the dancefloor. The optimism and sense of community Goddard's music provides, however, is his alone.
