To celebrate National Nature Reserve Week, we're offering a rare opportunity of a guided walk of Kinder Scout National Nature Reserve with one of our most experienced rangers.

Starting at Bowden Bridge Car Park in Hayfield, you'll ascend Kinder Scout via the Three Knolls and join the plateau at Red Brook. Along the way, you'll be shown some of the 10,000 gullies which have been dammed to help rewet the moorland. Heading North along the plateau edge via Kinder Downfall, you'll see the outcome of a decade of peat bog restoration. Finally, descending William Clough and following the shoreline of Kinder Reservoir you can spot some of our large-scale tree-planting projects in the deep cloughs of nature reserve.

This moderately challenging walk is approximately 8 miles and includes a steep ascent and follows an uneven footpath. Due to the moderate difficulty only adult tickets are available. The walk is not suitable for pushchairs or prams. Dogs on leads are welcome but there may be some stiles.

Our ranger team are incredibly knowledgeable, so please ask as many questions about the area as you like!
