Nantwich Roots - Steve Wickham & Ray Coen plus Egan Stonier

Details

STEVE WICKHAM is a revered Irish musician, best known as a member of the Waterboys, having made major contributions to many of their most famous tracks including “Fishermans Blues” “A Man Is In Love” and “The Pan Within”.

However he has also worked with U2 (playing on “Sunday Bloody Sunday” from the “War” album) and Sinead O’Connor on her early and most successful albums. Steve was born in Dublin, raised on classical music and Celtic folk, but his career has seen him emerge as a groundbreaking musician, whose use of the violin to create distinct rock soundscapes has earned him the nickname `’the Jimi Hendrix of the violin”. We await his first appearance in Nantwich with bated breath.

RAY COEN is a guitarist / multi instrumentalist hailing from Sligo. A true virtuoso and master of many styles he has toured all over UK, Europe and Japan with Steve Wickham, and famed Irish bands the No Crows and Craic Addicts.

Born to two musician / songwriter parents, Nantwich based violinist Egan Stonier first appeared onstage at our festival when aged 8. He has since performed at festivals including Glastonbury and Beautiful Days and his last appearance here was when he joined Megan Lee onstage at the Rumer show in October.

Fusing his original roots influences with hard rock and prog stylings, and using effects pedals and loop stations to create captivating soundscapes, 17 year old Egan makes his solo debut at the festival opening for Steve and Ray.
