Details

Miriam Backhouse (as she was then) became one of the most in demand folk singers of her generation. In 4 years she went from unknown to appearances on TV, Radio, and at leading Festivals including Cambridge. She was a leading light of the folk scene in the early to mid-70's and very much in demand. Her wonderful clear voice was compared to the likes of Maddy Prior and Joan Baez. In 1977 Miriam's LP Gypsy Without a Road was released and met with much critical acclaim. Also n 1977 she married John Erasmus and emigrated to South Africa where she continued to perform, in addition to raising a family. Miriam, or Mim as she generally goes by, returns to the UK at regular intervals to perform for very appreciative audiences across the country as well as further abroad. Dont miss the chance to hear her!
