Join us for the MCO's Spring concert - a beautiful evening of music-making!
The programme opens with the premiere of a new piece from outstanding young pianist, jazzer and composer, Alexander McNamee. The vivid and programmatic piece, entitled From Chesser to Colinton, describes a walk from Slateford Aqueduct to Colinton village. It is great fun both to play and to listen to!
In the 2nd item on the programme, we feature Rhea Fitzgerald - an even younger musician - as solo violinist in Mendelssohn's beautiful and virtuosic Violin Concerto in E minor. Two years ago at the age of 12, Rhea gave an outstanding performance with the Meadows of Schumann's Piano Concerto. Rhea's command of both instruments and both works is very special.
Concluding the concert is Rachmaninov's epic, memorable and extraordinary late romantic masterpiece, the Symphony no 2.
