Details

‘Stenson is one of the most deeply resourceful jazz pianists in Europe, and Speake is an understatedly imaginative original’ — The Guardian British alto saxophonist Martin Speake is joined by acclaimed Swedish pianist Bobo Stenson. An award-winning musician, Martin Speake has been at the forefront of the UK jazz scene since the mid 80’s after coming to prominence with the saxophone quartet Itchy Fingers. He later embarked on a solo career and has been a prolific writer and recording artist. Speake’s music is difficult to categorise; he has many influences from Indian and Arab music right through to Bartók. Bobo Stenson has always been a seeker, digging deep within jazz history to make fresh discoveries and explore new collaborations. For more than five decades he has laid down a series of wonderfully contemplative albums that weave together post-bop, classical music and folk themes from around the globe. Bobo and Martin have played together previously, performing rarely played songs and repertoire from classical music. The duo will bring together all of their musical influences for an entertaining night of live jazz.
