Details

Jerome Kern was one of the most important American theatre composers of the 20th Century, and many of his hit songs have been adopted by jazz musicians.

In fact, Kern is connected to Surrey as he married the daughter of the proprietor of the Swan Inn in Walton-on-Thames in 1910 and lived there whenever he was in England!

Tonight, Mark Nightingale’s quintet will be celebrating some of Jerome Kern’s most beloved themes like ‘ All The Things You Are ’ and ‘ The Way You Look Tonight ’.

Trombonist Mark and flautist/sax player Andy Panayi have played in small groups together for nearly four decades and their musical empathy and prowess has been lauded by critics. Along with a stellar rhythm section, they promise a swinging evening of memorable melodies and fine musicianship.

Mark Nightingale – trombone, Andy Panayi – flute & tenor sax, Robin Aspland – piano, Tom Farmer – double bass, Steve Brown - drums
