CRUSHED DREAMS BAD LUCK. Meet King: a down-on-his-luck migrant dishpig locked out in the alley for the night (again) with only the bins to keep him company. Over the course of an hour King will unfurl his life story - from the tiny triumphs to the massive losses, along the mad journey taking him from mainland Europe to the grimy metropolis of London. KING is a satirical state-of-the-nation monologue about surviving as an economic migrant in a hostile and hopeless post-Brexit England. Written and performed by award winning Greek playwright, stand-up comedian and actor Dennis Matsikas, this is his English language debut. As a comedian Dennis was a resident comic at Venue 2000+4 (Athens) between 2010-2017. Dennis became known in Athens for his controversial political satire that attracted public condemnation from the Christian Orthodox Church and numerous political parties. Dennis is a graduate of the Iasmos Drama School, Athens and has worked extensively across Greece as a professional actor. Blending standup comedy, dramatic theatre, and video installation, KING is an explosive and disarming new-work led by award winning director Liz Arday and Offie Nominated company LZA Theatre.
