John Douglas: Live At The Annunciation Ballroom

Details

From Irvine on Scotland's west coast, John Douglas has a rich history, making music with the mighty Trashcan Sinatras for over thirty years. Apart from his role as a songwriter (and guitarist) there, John's regular job is as an essential part of the band led by his partner, the wondrous Eddi Reader (he also wrote 'Wild Mountainside' which featured on her 'Songs Of Robert Burns' album).

John's doing some dates after getting round to releasing his debut solo album. He was invited to guest with Martin McAloon, the two artists having first met in 1990 during their Jordan - The Comeback tour with Prefab Sprout. There's a joyous version of We Let The Stars Go on the album, which includes songs old and new, including his reworking of some Trashcan Sinatras numbers - an intimate snapshot of the talent, charisma and depth of this celebrated Scottish indie songsmith; the start of a new chapter in John Douglas' creative life as he simultaneously looks back at a lifetime of musical adventures and accolades and moves forwards.
