Ever popular, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason returns to captivate us again. Making her debut on the international scene at the BBC Proms, she is now an avid recitalist and a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. Jeneba’s debut solo album will be released in Spring 2025, and showcases her wide-ranging curiosity for repertoire, with works by Chopin, Debussy and Scriabin alongside Margaret Bonds, William Grand Still and Florence Price.
Tonight she performs two of these composers, including Chopin’s B♭ minor Sonata, best known for its opening Funeral March, together with Beethoven’s dramatic D minor ‘Tempest’ Sonata and the fifth of Bach’s Partitas from the first book of his Clavierübung. The concert concludes with a blend of African American folk music with European piano in a fantasy by Florence Price.
