To celebrate our 900th anniversary to are pleased to announce that free lunchtime concerts will return to the Cathedral in August.

On Tuesday 9 August soloist James Gaughan will be performing, accompanied by pianist David Hammond.

James' repertoire covers a wide range of genres from musicals to opera and he has also sung in many local ensembles, and is currently a member of the Clerks of All Saints North Street and the choir at All Saints Pavement. In recent years, James has specialised in Oratorio and Song repertoire. In 2016 James won rosebowls at the Huddersfield (Mrs Sunderland) and Rothwell Festivals, along with the Victor Ludorum Shield for Senior Singing at the Cottingham festival. James also won Oratorio prizes at Cottingham, Grantham and Skipton and a range of song prizes in Cottingham, Huddersfield (Mrs Sunderland), Rothwell and Skipton. He performs at venues across the UK, both as a soloist and with choirs and choral societies.

All tickets are free; there will be a collection taken after the recital to support both the artists and the Cathedral. Please book in advance if you can so we can monitor expected attendance.
