J. Madden records his own bass, drums, Hohner PSK15, piano, and guitar. Tracks like "The Pool Of Emotion the Size of an Ocean" and "Solitude" follow idiosyncratic, sparse forms, but are still melodic in an unconventional and homegrown way, echoing the best of Bill Callahan, Cate Le Bon, Cass McCombs and Leonard Cohen. Singles “Two Birds” and “Only Going For Peace Of Mind” showcase Madden’s ability to write a pop gem.
