I Come From…

Meander Theatre Company present a relaxed work-in-progress performance of ‘I Come From…’. The short piece combines spoken word and puppetry. It depicts experiences of bullying and hate crime that have been lived by the performers.

‘I Come From…’ was first performed in June 2023. It was created a part of a project Meander undertook in partnership with Nottingham Playhouse. It has been further developed this year, with the support of a bursary awarded by Nottingham Puppet Festival.

The performance is followed by a Q&A discussion about the project.

Meander Theatre is a Learning Disability-led Theatre Company. They make work based on the interests of their participants, and work that foregrounds the lived experiences the participant.

Meander Theatre have been working with puppetry since 2011, integrating handmade puppet figures and animated objects into shows created alongside learning disabled and autistic creatives.
