Arnold Schoenberg: Verklärte Nacht, Op.4 (for piano trio) arr. Edward Steuerman Schoenberg: Pierrot lunaire, Op.21
Hebrides Ensemble Stephanie Lamprea, soprano
Berlin, 1912. The sad pantomime clown Pierrot steps into the moonlight, and changes music for ever.
Bold, theatrical, daring, controversial. As we mark his 150th birthday, Arnold Schoenberg’s melodrama continues to thrill audiences over a century later.
Pierrot Lunaireinspired Hebrides Ensemble from the outset, and they have performed it many times over the past 3 decades. For this performance they are joined by the remarkable young Colombian/American soprano Stephanie Lamprea, and the experience is enhanced with specially commissioned paintings by Scottish artist Kirsty Matheson.
