Details
An extravagant evening of Handel with a large band of strings, wind, natural horns, trumpets and drums - plus opera arias sung by Handel prima donna Anna Dennis, whose singing of Purcell at Stour in 2020 kept our Covid spirits alive. The Water Music was composed in 1717 at the request of the new King, George I, to have a concert on the Thames. The Fireworks are from 1749, and at the initial performance in Green Park, there was a three-hour traffic jam to get to the concert... Our bar will be open early.
